Tapol Mahalle
Mashhad is the biggest religious city in the world. One of the most important touristic and pilgrimage city for Shias. “Tappol-Mahale” is a district near Holly shrine which is located in the city center. In the heart of this district, a historical and cultural identity is buried. And from that identity, nothing was left except a few historical houses. Instead of narrow alleys, gable roofs, door knockers, and sometimes mud_ brick buildings, all can be be seen, is numerous hotels and shopping malls. Most of the houses are demolished and authorities asphalted everywhere and turned the remaining walls into white for health and good-looking reasons. Everywhere is like a desert. Asphalted desert.By demolishing this district, a part of the historical memory of Mashhad is lost.
A plan that is not supported by municipal engineering, anthropology or scientific research. The destruction that executed due to a national plan and renovation of old fabrics around the Holy shrine. Lack of Iranian Islamic architecture and resident dissatisfaction for existing this district are only a few of these district problems. This photo collection is taken during different seasons.
